Dr. Susan Wenberg
Dr. Wenberg was introduced to chiropractic while studying biomechanics in graduate school. She received chiropractic care to help recover from a bicycling injury. Dr. Wenberg was impressed with her experience and changed her career plans, entering chiropractic school after receiving a Masters degree in biology from UCLA.
Dr. Wenberg was graduated Magna Cum Laude from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. She holds chiropractic licenses in Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada, with certifications in physio-therapy and acupuncture.
Her goal is to help her patients experience more comfort and effectiveness in their daily lives. Her focus is the diagnosis and treatment of neuro-musculo-skeletal disorders. This often includes treatment for injuries sustained in auto accidents, or from work or sports injuries, but it also includes treatment of pain or discomfort which can arise from daily activities. Her primary treatment tool is gentle manual therapy. She also uses rehabilitation approaches and physio-therapy, acupressure, and DNS (dynamic neuromuscular stabilization). She treats extremity (arm and leg) injuries as well as spinal conditions.
She has attended post-graduate programs in rehabilitation, sports injury management, and functional neurology. She has also taken post-graduate seminars in reflex development therapies, nutrition, women's health, pediatrics, and whiplash trauma.
Dr. Wenberg completed courses in Advanced Manual Medicine in Europe in 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2009 under the direction of Czech Professors Vladimir Janda MD, Karl Lewit MD, and Pavel Kolar, PT, PhD, as well as affiliated training in the USA. Study in this program led to certification as a Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) Practitioner in 2009 (www.rehabps.com).
Dr. Wenberg has lectured to postgraduate audiences on manual therapy, on brain injury, and on rehabilitation.
She acted as the chiropractor and a crew member for a cyclist in the 1994 and 1995 Race Across America (RAAM).
Volunteer service has included 10 years as a naturalist at Sabino Canyon Recreation Area. She enjoys hiking, bicycling, backpacking, and field hockey. In 1981 she bicycled across the United States. She swims with a Masters Swim Team.

Initial Visit: The initial visit includes completing appropriate paperwork and explaining to Dr. Wenberg your goals in seeking chiropractic care. Dr. Wenberg will take a detailed history and perform an examination. If further testing or information is required she will work with you to obtain that information. She will then explain what course of treatment she feels is appropriate for you, discuss options, and initiate treatment. Dr. Wenberg is sensitive to your needs and boundaries. If there is something that makes you feel uncomfortable, she will be happy to explore alternatives. At the end of your first visit, you and Dr. Wenberg will decide if further treatment is necessary, and if so, sketch out an appropriate treatment plan. Some conditions resolve in one visit, while some require further care.
Lectures & Presentations: Dr. Wenberg is available to speak to business or professional organizations. She has lectured locally to the Rotary Club, various women's organizations and breakfast clubs, and medical, massage, and acupuncture schools. She is happy to share her knowledge.
Sports Injuries: Among other activities, Dr. Wenberg is a bicyclist, a swimmer, and a backpacker. She has an intimate knowledge of the effects of sporting activities on the body. Combined with her extensive training, her experiences as an athlete provide her with the insights to diagnose and treat sports injuries effectively. Dr. Wenberg is trained to work with you to discover the cause of your pain or dysfunction, and to assist you in finding ways to avoid perpetuating it, often without discontinuing your athletic activities. Specific stabilizing techniques, therapeutic posture, and mobilization exercises are often a component of treatment.
Auto Accidents: Chiropractic care is often the appropriate method of managing and resolving injuries from auto accidents.
Coordinated Care: Dr. Wenberg works in coordination with other health care professionals, or refers patients to them for treatment of concurrent conditions. She may wish to communicate with your primary care physician, or she may suggest that you consult a medical doctor, a physical therapist, naturopathic doctor, massage therapist, or other health care professional. She believes that communication between health care providers improves the quality of all care received by the patient.
